About Us

WOODBOROUGH BRIDGE CLUB was founded in 1986, developing from classes held in the village. The Club has expanded over the years and now enjoys an average of nine tables an evening. The aim of the Club is to provide a friendly and sociable venue for duplicate bridge. The Club caters for a variety of standards from the confident beginner to the more experienced player, with some members representing the County Teams. Many members attend lessons provided by local teachers who are also members of the Club.

The Club currently runs two Teams of Eight in the Nottinghamshire County Bridge League played over the winter months. Currently, the first team is in Division 1 and the second team in Division 4. Matches are not held during Club sessions and it should be noted that they are not played at Woodborough Hall. During the year we compete in at least two National Simultaneous Pairs events and the occasional Charity event. The Club is a member of the English Bridge Union and Master Points are awarded for play on all evenings.

Woodborough is a pleasant village 8 miles North East of Nottingham, 20 minutes from the City centre. The Club has a wide catchment area covering the surrounding villages and the City. The Club meets every Thursday, 7.30 at Woodborough Hall on Bank Hill. There is plenty of parking available and there is access for disabled visitors. Refreshements are available during the session and they are included in the table fee.

The annual membership subscription is £4, with a nightly table charge of £1.00 per person. Visitors are very welcome to attend up to 5 sessions a year, paying £1.50 table money.

We very much welcome new members. If you would like to come along we do suggest you contact either the Chairperson (via e-mail) or the Secretary beforehand. We will do our best to arrange for a partner if you do not have one.
